Okay, most of you probably have heard of this Drums stop, very bad, joke. No? Okay, I'll tell it to you, but let me warn you.. it's really really funny... you may even piss in your pants! You ready for this? Well, so here it goes... A tourist went to Africa, and went on one of those safari tour thingy. The group was camping out somewhere in the wilderness, but to his dismay, there were these natives beating on the drums all night long and he just can't go to sleep. He asked the guide, "What is going on? When is this horrible drumming going to stop?" The guide just said, "Drum stops, very bad." For night after night, the drums went on. The guy was going out of his mind, and asked the guide, "This drumming is just driving me insane, please tell me when is this drumming going to stop?" The guide insisted, "Drums stop, very bad." So finally one day he said to his tour guide, "For the love of god, when will the drumming stop? What could be worse than this constant horrible drumming?" The tour guide finally said to him, "Drums stop, very bad... Bass solo."
So did I warn you that you were gonna piss your pants or what? It's an old joke, but I find it somewhat appropriate in our current environment in Hong Kong. It's not exactly Drums stop, very bad... but it's Rain stops very bad... because rain stops, the heat begins. You thought it was hot and humid before when it was raining? Hardly! You thought perhaps after it rained, the temperature may cool down somewhat? Never! Humidity was only 98% before when it was raining. What are you complaining about? Rain stops, humidity rises up to 150%! Boy, I was against having the AC on all the time before, but now I want nothing BUT AC!
We've been pretty fortunate so far living in Hong Kong without running into the famous and often epitomizes what's typical HK: the jackhammers! Maybe it's because most places we've lived were more ghetto so nobody bothered to do much renovation work for their apartments, but now that we're in "shi-shi" Happy Valley, the jackhammering has begun. Barely 9am on a Saturday it started hammering away. So to my "hommies", be glad that you live in a ghetto building, what's a stray bullet once in awhile or stains on the walls, at least you don't have to listen/feel the symphony of jackhammering vibrating all day long as if it's performing solely for you and being piped directly into your brain.
I've started working for my brother at his office. A lady in his office is on maternity leave, so I'm just filling in for her for the month of June, just a few hours each day, Monday through Friday. Mostly helping to answer emails and rewriting emails in English for the rest of the girls at the office. They don't REALLY need my help for the most part, only when something that's a bit more involved and complicated they need some help. Though it's kind of funny, because most of their clients are not from English speaking countries either, so I'm not sure does it really matter if the messages were correctly written, because theirs sure ain't! But I guess it's always better to convey a message correctly than not...
Other than that, my band is still trying to finish up our little recording project. All the tracks (only 3 songs total) had been laid down, now we just need to focus on getting everything mixed and mastered. I've kinda "injured" my first finger on my left hand during our recording though. There was a part in one of the songs I had to do over and over again (because I suck), for a few hours, that had caused my finger some soreness and swollen slightly. I think I may have hurt some tendon or something. Even now when I curl it and move it I feel the pain. Unfortunately I couldn't/didn't rest it properly right after it's injured, because I still had a couple of gigs to play and practices I had to make. Yeah, what can I say... life of a rock star!! :P So it's not till now that I can give it some proper rest. You still can see the slight swelling, but the pain and stiffness is getting a little better. Well, I'm sure taping away on this keyboard doesn't really help either... :P So with that said, I bid you adieu... Till next time... Just remember, drums stop... very bad...!
