I'm sad to report that I haven't been going to my big band practice lately. Mostly because of not having enough time to practice (or lazy) for a 3rd band, but also I just don't "gel" with the group as much, which consists of mostly some very young people, a little too young even for me. But also because there's not clarinet charts for me to play, so I always ended up playing either the trumpet part or the tenor sax part, which is fine in general, but certainly doesn't make me feel being part of the whole thing... anyway, mostly excuses I know. Well, we'll see how life goes later on, maybe I'll still pick it back up later if an opportunity comes along.
My band BT recently played another show at some industrial building in Kwan Tong, it was an interesting experience. Mostly with a bunch of local Chinese bands who we don't know anything about, so that was pretty cool. Poster below:
Oh, another thing, I went to my first swing dancing class! Rock step, triple step, triple step! :) It's just a 5-week session. I've been wanting to take that but because of timing I haven't been able to. They also hold a dance social every Wednesday at Grappa's, but for various reasons, I haven't been able to do that as often as I'd like, but hopefully I'll be able to participate more in the coming year.
Let's see, what else.... Oh, both of my bands will be playing in the upcoming Lamma Fun Day this Sunday. Should be a good time! Sun, sand and music, perfect combination! I'll be playing in 2 bands, but Tunji, the rock star that he is, will be playing in like 3 or 4 I think. :) I'll try to see if I remember to take some photos.
Sister leaves on Tuesday already. I didn't even get to spend that much time with her this time...
