Activities

So hey, all of a sudden, BT have been quite busy with a flurry of activities. But first thing first, I forgot to mention that we went to a private kitchen last week, where they serve Cajun food! Can you believe it? This was my first time to a private kitchen. The restaurant was called Magnolia, in Sheung Wan. They don't take walk ins, so you must make a reservation, plus you need to pay up before hand, that's how they know how much food is needed for the night, but it ain't cheap. I was skeptical at first, but it was actually quite good! The gumbo was quite good, a more "refine" version vs the homestyle version which most people are familiar with. The ribs were simply delicious, the craw fish etouffee was decent, but the okra dish was just amazing, and the pecan pie... oh, so good, not too sweet. I was so full afterwards that I thought I was gonna die.

On another note, I've started my first private tutoring session this week and I think it went quite well. I hope I'll be able to keep doing this and find more students. I've done classroom sessions before and didn't quite like it much. Most probably is the way that business was run. It had many problems and not exactly in it to teach rather just to make money and turn a profit with the least effort. Seems like there are just too many of these businesses here in Hong Kong. I think private sessions are much more suitable for me. Well, that was just the first class, so we shall see how it will go in time.

Alright, back to BT. We've been having a flurry of activities lately. Just got interviewed by RTHK radio station to promote the Underground showcase that we did last night. The interview was short but sweet, they even played 2 of our songs on air! Not that anyone would have heard it, but it's just a pretty cool thought. I probably should see if we could get a copy of the segment, just for prosperity purposes.

Last night we played at the Underground showcase. Only for 30 minutes, but I think we did alright. I only screwed up a few notes! :P Today we'll be going to record 2 songs for the Underground compilation CD, probably Taxi and Bulletproof. I'm a little concern about my playing on Taxi. My playing on that song had never been very clean. In a live situation you can get away with a lot, but on a recording you can hear every single note, one's shortcoming will become more magnified. Last time we recorded that song at Dean's my finger was swollen for a few days because I strained it from playing the same notes over and over again too many times... That slave driver Deano, let me tell ya! :P

But swollen finger or not, we have another show coming up next Saturday at The Fringe Club with Sea Monsters, and Hungry Ghosts. That should be a fun show. Hopefully we'll get some pictures, or even video, from that show and to share with ya'll.

After that, I'll be off to HI for about a month. T is there already, which makes me sad... being all alone here... really don't like being apart, we're almost like Siamese twins in that regard... kinda sickening to other people I'm sure. I just feel so aimless without him around. Then again, it's also kinda nice to have the peace and quiet all to myself, 'cause he's always noisy and blasting the TV or speakers or something. I enjoy silence, whereas he likes to have everything running and ON all at once, and I'm always asking him to turn things down or mute the TV. He's been gone for 5 days now and I've only had the TV on once, to watch the presidential election.

Well, speaking of the presidential election, I have more thoughts on that subject, but this is becoming too long... so I'll do it in another post.
