So I've been taking Putonghua (Mandarin) lessons for about 2 months now. I go with my friend Cat to a center in Central once a week and I think it's actually helping my pronunciation.
Right after the class, I find myself reading the signs around town in Mando like a small child when she first started to learn how to read. I'm sure people around me must think I'm a freak, seeing me moving my lips silently as if I were speaking in tongues. I'm surprise no one has moved away from me on a bus or train yet. Then again, it's usually rush hour when we get off from class, so they're probably just glad that they could get on the bus to begin with and it's so crowded that there's no room for them to move away. I'm sure they all look skyward and say a silent prayer that I wouldn't bust out a weapon or something, or do something REALLY weird. Ha! It's just so easy to freak people out in this town. Sometimes I just want to jump up and say "Boo" to them and see how would they react. But no... don't worry, I won't REALLY do that. It's again, one of those things that float around in my perverted mind that I really want to do but would never make happen. I CAN control myself! I can, I know I can... well, sometimes...
